Tune in to hear from NZ educators as we rethink education in a time of remote living—and have the chance to have your questions answered.
About this Event
Beginning on Monday 4 May, the global Boma network will be hosting a week of virtual events—Boma Education Week—focused on rethinking education in a world of remote living.
The Boma Education Week events will take place around the globe—and bring together a wide range of educators and education designers for debate and discussion related to how education will change, and should change as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The summit will take place 100% online (over Facebook live stream) and will be free and open to the public.
Tune in to the local NZ session on Wednesday 6 May, from 7–8:30pm, to hear from innovating thinkers who are already designing, testing and implementing new ways of teaching and learning whether digitally or otherwise.
Speakers include:
Claire Amos: the Principal of Albany Senior High School, co-founder of DisruptED and and a board member for NetSafeNZ and 21C Skills Lab.
Dylan Wijaya: a year 12 student attending St John's College in Hastings, New Zealand. For the past 3 weeks, he and 6 other students have been striving to create a cost-effective ventilator in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rachel and Michael Perrett: Founders of Green School New Zealand, which uses a community-integrated, entrepreneurial way of learning with a focus on exciting and empowering students to lead the way sustainably.
Dr Melanie Riwai-Couch: Kaihautū Māori and education consultant for Evaluation Associates, and experienced researcher, evaluator and change manager for kāhui ako.
Thanks to our local partners at Ako Ōtautahi Learning City Christchurch for supporting organisations and teachers to rethink education here in NZ and supporting this event.
